Thanks John for Your Question About Long Exposure & Iphones

To take a long exposure photo with an iPhone, you’ll typically use the Live Photo feature and then apply the Long Exposure effect. Here’s a step-by-step guide.

1. Enable Live Photo Mode:

• Open the Camera app.

• Ensure Live Photo mode is enabled (icon looks like a set of concentric circles at the top of the screen; it should be highlighted in yellow).

2. Stabilize Your iPhone:

• Use a tripod or stable surface to keep your iPhone steady.

• Any movement can blur the image, so stability is key for long exposure shots.

3. Take the Photo:

• Choose a scene with moving elements (I.E, flowing water, moving cars).

• Tap the shutter button once to take a Live Photo. Hold still for a few seconds before and after pressing the shutter.

4. Apply Long Exposure Effect:

• Open the Photos app and find the Live Photo you just took.

• Swipe up on the photo to reveal Effects.

• Select ‘Long Exposure’. The photo will process and the movement in the photo will blur, creating a long exposure effect.

5. Adjustments and Editing:

• If needed, you can edit the photo further for brightness, contrast, and other adjustments right in the Photos app.

Remember, the key to a good long exposure is a steady camera and a scene with movement.  Experiment with different scenes and durations to see how it affects the motion blur in your photos.

* I’ll try to include some other cell phone hacks from time to time, or you can request a specific one your interested in.
